Appeals Committee

The CIRI Appeals Committee is an independent statutory body established as part of the governance framework for the CIRI. The committee provides a fair, transparent, and impartial mechanism for reviewing appeals relating to decisions made under the CIRI registration process. 

The Appeals Committee operates separately from both the CIRI Admissions and Registration Board (CARB) and the Construction Industry Federation (CIF), ensuring that appeals.

As Ireland's statutory register for providers of building works continues to develop, robust governance and oversight are essential to maintaining confidence in the registration system. The Appeals Committee forms an important part of this framework, supporting transparency, accountability, and consistency in decision-making across the register. 

The Appeals Committee is responsible for considering appeals that fall within its remit under the Regulation of Providers of Building Works and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022. The committee will establish procedures governing the conduct of appeals and will review matters independently of the original decision-making process.

The existence of an independent appeals process helps ensure that applicants and registrants have access to a transparent and equitable system, supporting confidence among consumers, industry stakeholders, and registered providers alike.

Members of the Appeals Committee are appointed by the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage. The committee operates independently from both the CIRI Registration Body and the Admissions and Registration Board, providing an important safeguard within the statutory registration framework.

Together with the Admissions and Registration Board, the Appeals Committee contributes to the effective governance of CIRI and supports the register's objective of promoting competence, professionalism, good practice, and compliance within Ireland's construction sector.
